Those who are avid wine
drinkers, are always on the search for a quality fine wine. Some of
the best fine wines can be found in Marlborough, New Zealand. What
exactly sets these wines apart from the many others on the market?
It starts with the history of the wine in Marlborough. There has
been a history of wine in Marlborough reaching as far back as the
1800s, however, the rest of the world did not take notice of the
wine that was being produced in the area until around the 1970s. The
use of the fine grapes is the first step in making wine that is
considered some of the best in the country. The region uses only
those grapes that have reached full maturity. The climate of the
area helps tremendously in producing these grapes. The area is
located on the east coast so the climate is relatively cool and dry,
which allows the grapes to mature slowly, which means that the
flavour of the grape is at its best when it becomes time to pick the
grapes. The soil of the area also affects the wine since it affects
the growth of the grapes. When it does rain, the soil dries quickly
so there is no affect on the grapes whatsoever, which means that the
Marlborough area is what other places try to strive to be, however,
none really come close.
The Sauvignon Blanc wines is considered the finest wine that is
produced in Marlborough. In fact, this wine has won various awards
from all over the world for its taste that is categorized as a crisp
and dry taste. This wine is categorized as the best summer wine that
people can drink because of the taste that it offers with most
summer foods, particularly cheese and fish products. Though the
Sauvignon Blanc is the wine that created the popularity for
Marlborough, they still produce other white and red wines that are
just as equally beloved. There are around fifteen different wineries
located in Marlborough that produce some of the finest wines that
the world loves to drink.
The Golden Mile Pinot Noir is
considered one of the best Pinot Noir wines that are produced in the
area. The winery as to where this is produced is the Domaine Georges
Winery. The taste of this wine is categorized as a smooth taste with
hint of red berries and a dash of chocolate that is enough to entice
any sweet lover. The 2006 Drylands Merlot is also a great wine that
people from all over the world like to indulge in. This is produced
by the Drylands Winery and is characterized as having a smooth taste
that consists of plums and red berried with just a hint of mocha and
oak.
For those that are interested in other kinds of wines, they can be
found in Marlborough, as the region produces almost any kind of wine
that a person could want to have in their home or restaurant. The
Allan Scott Winery produces some of the best Riesling that can be
found anywhere in the world. The taste is defined as one that is
rich in berry flavours with the slight hint of honey, but with
enough zip to it so that people know that they are drinking a fine
wine.
With as many wineries that are located in and throughout
Marlborough, it is not hard for someone to find a wine that they
adore, even the most pickiest wine drinker will find something that
they love to drink in this area. Most of the wineries in the area do
offer taste tastings, so that people cannot only see the wine
process, but get a glimpse of what all the hype is about.
Always drink in
moderation.
